The Tim Reid Celebrity Weekend Event
Brings an All-Star Basketball Game to NSU

Norfolk State University will host the Tim Reid All-Star Basketball Game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall. The All-Star game is one of the 2008 Tim Reid Celebrity Weekend celebration events being held around the Hampton Roads region.

The basketball game will feature a host of Hollywood and local celebrities such as Bishop Courtney McBath of Calvary Revival Church, who has signed on as the team’s head coach. Also on the coaching staff are Bruce Smith, formerly with the Washington Redskins and Ken Easley, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks.

This year’s celebration marks the 18th anniversary of the event, which is designed to raise funds for the Virginia Scholarship and Youth Development Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Tim and Daphne Reid in 1990. To date, 23 students have received scholarships to attend 11 different colleges and universities in the state of Virginia.

General admission tickets are only $5 and reserved seating is $10. Tickets are being sold at NSU in the ticket booth adjacent to the William “Dick” Price Stadium from noon to 6 p.m. through Saturday, May 17. Tickets are also available via EZ-TIXX at 877-993-8499 or visit the Web site at www.EZ-TIXX.com.

Other events scheduled May 15-17 will be held in Suffolk, Newport News, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk. For more information on the Tim Reid Celebrity Weekend, visit the Web site at www.timreid.org  or call 757-393-4007.
