The Norfolk Chapter of the Norfolk State University Alumni Association, Inc., is the first recipient of the President's Golden Sabre Award. Presented by President Tony Atwater at the NSUAA's 19th Annual Leadership Conference, this award was designed to recognize the chapter that made the largest donation during the 2011-12 fiscal year.

Over the past year, the Norfolk Chapter has hosted numerous fundraising activities that have allowed them to continue the legacy of giving. "Our ultimate satisfaction is knowing [that] we are helping NSU students with our fundraising efforts,” said Al Steward ‘83 & ‘92, president of the Norfolk Chapter. By winning this award, the chapter has cemented its position as a powerful philanthropic advocate of Norfolk State University.
