On Saturday, February 9, the Office of Alumni Relations hosted Alumni Day 2013. Over 500 Norfolk State University Alumni returned to campus and participated in a variety of activities. The day began with a brunch where new Lifetime NSU Alumni Association members were recognized and presented with an award. Several representatives from the university and the Alumni Association provided updates on the state of the institution, and the importance of philanthropic support to NSU.
Ample opportunity was provided for alumni groups to show their pride, make a promise to become more engaged and share their prosperity with NSU. A Financial Management workshop provided strategies to improve their overall financial standing and make a sizeable gift back to their alma mater.
Others were given a tour of the new and updated facilities on campus by the student ambassadors. A meet and greet reception was held for the newly formed Nursing Alumni Chapter where they met with current nursing faculty and students on the progress of the department. Pre-game hospitality was provided at the Alumni House where alumni and friends socialized and enjoyed light refreshments.
The Alumni Association showed its support of NSU by presenting a check for $35,000 during the NSU vs. Delaware State Men’s Basketball game. Alumni Day has evolved into an annual event to highlight the direct beneficiaries of a Norfolk State University education – the Alumni of this institution.
