NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State bowling program was recognized by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for its academic prowess, as the organization recently announced its team academic awards.
NSU was one of 20 programs nationwide honored by the NTCA for having a GPA of 3.20 or better. The Spartans finished the 2013-14 academic year with a team 3.27 GPA.
Norfolk State was one of four MEAC schools to be recognized by the organization, including Delaware State, North Carolina A&T and UMES, the latter of which finished with the highest team GPA of any school that sponsors NCAA bowling.
Three NSU bowlers, Thea Aspiras, Carrie Hickey and Ashley Buck, were named NTCA All-Academic honorable mention earlier this summer for having individual GPAs of 3.4 or better.
