Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk State University received two donations totaling $3.5 million from an anonymous benefactor. A gift in the amount of $3 million has been designated to provide financial assistance for NSU students; the second gift of $500,000 will assist the institution in meeting its highest priorities in areas such as faculty support, research and equipment.
The $3 million gift designated for financial assistance will be targeted for initiatives that will enhance the accessibility and quality components of the University's mission. The University will target the gift of $500,000 for long-term and immediate use for initiatives that will support NSU faculty. Faculty development is among the University's highest priorities. “Constant faculty development is crucial to inspiring academic excellence and to attracting and retaining a world-class faculty,” President Carolyn W. Meyers said.
