Norfolk, Va.—In an effort to reduce energy costs, reduce fuel consumption for commuters, and lessen the university’s carbon footprint on the planet, Norfolk State University will implement a 4-day work week during the summer semester.
The 4-day work week begins Monday, May 11 and will end Friday, July 31. Employees will work 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will have one hour for lunch each day. The only exceptions to this schedule are during the weeks of Memorial Day (May 25-29) and the Fourth of July (June 29-July 3). The details are as follows:
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday (May 25), NSU will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In observance of the Fourth of July holiday (July 3), NSU will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The normal 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours of operation will resume on Monday, August 3. For more information, call the Office of Human Resources at 823-8160.
