Lee Ivory, Former Deputy Managing Editor of USA Today, to Speak April 6


The Mass Communications and Journalism Department presents Lee Ivory, a former deputy managing editor of USA Today's news and sports departments, who is the 2011 Virginius Dabney Distinguished Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. Ivory is also president and CEO of Ivory Communications, an all-purpose media consulting and marketing firm based in Northern Virginia.


An award-winning managing editor at Gannett News Service, he has reported on everything from national elections and NASA to national disasters and civil rights. As president of the Washington Association of Black Journalists, Ivory won the National Association of Black Journalists' Chapter of the Year award in 2007.


His appearance at Norfolk State is part of department's annual MCJR week celebration, which runs April 4-8. Ivory's appearance will be April 6, 12-1 p.m. in Madison Hall, Room 156. More information is available from Dr. Wanda Brockington at 823-8330.
