The American Heart Association designated Norfolk State as a Fit-Friendly Company in Hampton Roads during the Hampton Roads Heart Walk on September 24. The designation highlights NSU's commitment to promoting a heart-healthy lifestyle among its employees and its effort to raise funds for research and programs to fight cardiovascular disease. "Our objective is to create a healthy work environment at NSU,” says Dr. Tony Atwater, president of Norfolk State University. "We are pleased to receive the designation and will continue our efforts to promote positive and healthful choices.” The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
