Brig. Gen. LaWarren V. Patterson, the commanding general of the 7th Signal Command (Theater) at Fort Gordon, was selected for promotion recently to major general by the U.S. Senate.
Patterson, a native of Portsmouth, Va., received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Signal Corps in 1982. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mass communications from Norfolk State University, a master of science degree in general administration from Central Michigan University and a master's degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College.
